The American Group of Constructors Holds First Ever Safety RetreatIn an effort to build a stronger safety culture, The American Group of Constructors (TAG), located in Hammond, recently presented a three-day safety retreat for employees and their families in Indianapolis. The first event of its kind to be held by TAG (on Aug. 8-10) reflects the company’s firm and ongoing commitment to workplace safety. “TAG’s mindset and approach to safety has become the focal point for everything we do. A safety-first work environment cultivates improved attitudes and behaviors, and the recent safety retreat is an illustration that TAG is taking employee well-being to the next level,” TAG CEO John Marsch said. The more than 100 TAG employees and family members who attended the weekend event were given the opportunity to listen to one of the country’s most dynamic motivational speakers on safety. Billy Robbins, who had his hands amputated after a workplace accident in 1980, conducted a fast-paced, upbeat presentation that helps change people’s attitudes toward safety. Emphasizing that an accident-free workplace can be attained, Robbins’ presentations have helped to shape and change the safety cultures of companies and organizations throughout the U.S. While at the retreat, TAG also recognized several employees for their dedication to on-the-job safety. The award for “Most Improved Safety Performance” was given to Pipefitter General Foreman Josh Brown; the “Safety Excellence in the Trenches” award, was presented to Labor Foreman Robert Nowak; and the award for “Safety Excellence in Planning” was given to Estimator Keith Streeter. |
